I am a sustainability and education consultant. Previously I was a lecturer in sustainable energy. I was originally a mechanical engineer, and later a sociologist of environmental technology, focussing on institutional barriers to wind power. I have long been interested in what motivates people's behaviours in education and sustainability practices. I am now studying psychology to better understand the psychology of climate inaction and unsustainability. I hope to integrate this with an understanding of political and institutional barriers to sustainability. I am strongly committed to social justice. I occasionally write satirical verse, particularly about climate inaction.

Our Earth's Climate is Changin'

I have adapted the Bob Dylan's classic: The Times They Are A-Changin'.

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the climate is not what we’ve known
And accept that our land could be dry as a bone
Is our children’s future worth saving?
Then you'd better come join us to safeguard our home
For our earth’s climate is changing

Come fossil fuel barons, now hear what we mean
And quit masquerading with claims to be clean
For your coal power stations may not be redeemed
Or there's no telling what we’ll be facing
Our energy future can only be green
For our earth’s climate is changing

Come you politicians, come now heed the call
Don't sit on the fence, don't dither and stall
For it’s time to confront that addiction to oil
Its future is rapidly fading
We must clean up our act if we get there at all
For our earth’s climate is changing

Come climate deniers all over this land
And don't criticize what you won't understand
If the science of climate’s beyond your command
The time’s no longer for wasting
Please get out of our way if you can't lend a hand
For our earth’s climate is changing

The line, it is drawn, the time, it has come
To harness the power of the wind and the sun
For the day of reckoning now has begun
The oil age is plainly derailing
And the best place for coal is to stay underground
For our earth’s climate is changing
